31 Jan 16: Thoroughly in the Akatarawa tradition, said Simon Kennett, winning his 7th 8hr Ak Attack! But it wasn't all about tough riding, with the winning team among several who were not fully sure where they were in the difficult "Cousins" section, aka the "Co-Op block". Graeme Silock and Steve Meeres won the 4hr category. Preliminary results have been posted.

25 Jan 16: MTB Pioneers Enter. Just had an entry from Simon and Jonathan Kennett, riding with Andrew McLellan. Simon has won six 8hr Ak Attacks, but former partner John Randal is enjoying road cycling.

What Is It?

The Akatarawa Attack is a Mountain Bike Rogaine set in the rugged wilds of the Akatarawa ranges north of Wellington. A full day's challenge for any keen mountain biker - its your chance to ride a variety of tracks from 4WD to single track at your own pace. Its a mountain bike race with a difference and where you get to choose your own course. A race where the fastest and fittest are more often out witted by sly and cunning. Are you up for the Adventure?

Enter

The entry fee is $50 per person for the 8 hour event and $40 per person for the 4 hour event. There's an Earlybird discount of $10 by Christmas PLUS a $10 discount for OHV or HVMBC members, and half price entry to under 21. The entry fee includes a great map of the area, land access, token prizes and a free gourmet barbeque after the event.
